Bus gate in Nørre Allé retained

On Wednesday 19 August 2026, By- og Planudvalget considered the evaluation of traffic management following the redevelopment of Vesterbro Torv.

A majority adopted the recommendation with amendments. The bus gate in Nørre Allé was to be retained. Teknik og Miljø was to continue working on a proposal for traffic measures in and around Ø-gaderne. The aim was to stop through traffic in, among other streets, Thunøgade and Sølystgade. The administration was to develop as quickly as possible a proposal to make the area a traffic-calmed island. Teknik og Miljø was also to continue working with the police on the design and enforcement of the bus gate.

Kristian Sommer, Anette Poulsen, Liv Gro Jensen, Albert Rosenkrantz Conradsen and Isabella Heilmann could adopt the recommendation with the mentioned amendments. Gert Bjerregaard and Jakob Søgaard Clausen could adopt the recommendation's point on removal of the bus gate at Nørre Allé, but reserved judgment on the rest of the recommendation.

The recommendation presented, among other things, evaluation, proposals for mitigating measures and the status of the finances. The evaluation showed increased traffic calming, better conditions for cyclists and pedestrians and relocation of traffic to the main road network, but also longer travel times for motorists and increased through traffic in residential areas.
